Passing

A true busker,  Anthony’s not particularly interested in attracting a crowd but prefers the passing traffic.  With regard to The Buskers where I commented on some people being hostile to street performers, I was taking some shots of Anthony one day and a well dressed, middle aged, business woman walked quickly passed and said at the top of her voice, “You suck!!”.  What prompted this, I have no idea.  Anthony’s response was to yell after her; “At least I’m doing something I love”.  A reasonable response I would have thought.

And no, he doesn’t suck.  Sounds alot like a young Bob Dylan. He was singing “Girl from the North Country” at the time, if I recall.   Maybe she just wasn’t a Dylan fan.

Hand

Another street performer who’s in the Mall everyday.  He’s relatively young and new and struggles to build a crowd but he’s improving.  This guy’s a true sleight-of-hand magician and James (previous post) seems to have taken him under his wing and coaches him a bit on selling himself.

The Busker

I have to admire street performers.  To get up and perform day after day to, at best unnappreciative or, occasionally dowright hostile audiences must be hard work.  This guy, James, is in the Mall everyday, performing some pretty decent magic and comedy.  His ability to attract what passes for a crowd in Rundle Mall crowd is impressive.  As I look around at the passive eyes of the audience of street performers, I always feel for them.
